Refrigerator repair

A refrigerator is an appliance that every household has. Its a device that maintains a low temperature in a heat-insulated camera. The operation of a refrigerator is based on the use of a compressor that transfers heat from the working(cold) camera of the refrigerator to the outside, where it is dissipated into the external environment. There are also commercial refrigerators with greater cooling capacity, which are used in catering establishments and shops, and industrial refrigerators, the volume of the working camera of which can reach tens and hundreds of cubic meters, they are used, for example, in meat processing plants, industrial production.
Operating temperature in a freezer section is usually from 0 to 10 °F, and a fresh food sections normally runs around 35-40 °F.

Common complains/symptom and possible causes:

1. Water leaking onto the floor:
– one cause of water leaking onto the floor is a blocked defrost drain, which is typically located on the back wall of the freezer (sometimes fresh food sections has it’s own defrost drain). It will create a sheet of ice on the floor or your freezer.

2. Broken or damaged water supply line/fitting/inlet valve:
– water tubing supply line and fittings might be the cause and need to be checked as well as the main inlet valve.

3. Ice maker overflowing:
– the primary problem is the water inlet valve, if the water pressure in this valve is too low, it may not fully close when the power to it is shut off.
– ice maker module is defective, when it is the case icemaker will overflow itself and cause a leak.

4. Ice maker is not making ice:
– freezer temperature is too high
– water supply is off
– ice maker is defective
– door switch is at fault

5. Not dispensing water
– frozen water line
– dispenser switch/solenoid is damaged
– clogged water filter
– defective inlet valve
– door switch

6. Over-freezing (ice buildup inside):
– temperature sensor
– temperature controller(thermostat)
– door seal is damaged and air seeping through
– noisy compressor(runs all the time), condenser coils need to be checked, the dirtier they are the more the compressor is running
– air buffle(damper)
– one element of defrost system is faulty (heater, defrost sensor, bi-metal thermostat)

7. Not cooling:
– condenser fan motor
– evaporator fan motor
– compressor is defective
– low level of refrigerant
